The Dominican Republic...when should I go and where should I stay?

The Dominican is by far my favorite vacation destination. I have visited the island about 30 times and have a new experience every visit. A country doesn't get the title of “most visited country in the Caribbean” unless it has something special to offer and this beautiful island has something for everyone: gorgeous beaches, crystal clear water, golf, whale watching, diving, kite surfing, waterfalls.... I could go on and on.

When someone is considering a vacation in the Dominican, the 2 most frequent questions I get asked are “when is the best time to go” and “where should I visit”. Lets start with the first one The DR offers an endless summer with an average temperature of 80 degrees year-round and over 300 days of sunshine per year. There really isn't a bad time to visit. It truly is a destination that offers excellent weather and an excellent experience year-round.

Where should I visit? Punta Cana is the most popular tourist destination in the DR and is famous for its white sandy beaches and clear blue water. But, there are dozens of places to visit if you are looking for something different. Want to go kite surfing - try Cabarete. Whale watching - visit Samana. Off the beaten path - Bahia de las Aguilas. Waterfalls - Las Terrenas. Golf - Casa de Campo. The possibilities are endless!
